Lazy Lizard Workout

Sport, health and laziness

My first 5K race!

I did it, I did it! Yesterday was my big day – I completed my first 5K race! Now June 23, 2012 is on my running timeline forever.

When I started training March 5th, I could barely run for 60 seconds. Now I am officially a race finisher! Happy and very proud of myself:)

The day before I went to Fleet Feet Sports in Menlo Park to pick up my package consisting of bib with safety pins, timing D‐tag, and race shirt. Even those little things made me excited. I didn’t sleep well that night but 6:30 I was already up and ready to go.

C25K – W9D3. All done!

I am thrilled – I finished my Couch-to-5K Training Plan!!! Starting back in March I had no idea I would be able to complete it. I had my ups and downs. Today I did:

The final workout! Congratulations! Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then jog 3 miles (or 30 minutes).

Plus, I did half a lap to make it 3.1 miles (5K). Feeling great! Congratulations to me! Way to go!

I am getting close to the end of my 5K training. Today I did:

Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then jog 3 miles (or 30 minutes).

I am not running for time – I am running for distance, so for me it means I did 12 laps on the track. Feels so good!

C25K – W9D1

I am down to the last week of my Couch-to-5K Training Plan. It cooled down a lot and I did what needed:

Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then jog 3 miles (or 30 minutes).

I did it, and it was EASY! The best run so far for me. I really enjoyed the last mile and even felt I could do MORE. Can you believe this? Very confident right now.

C25K – W8D3

Today was  very very hot, 97F but I am dying to finish my Couch-to-5K Training Plan before the race so I waited till 7pm amd went out to run.  The plan for day 3 of week 8 says:

Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then jog 2.75 miles (or 28 minutes).

I have to admit: I did 2 miles only. My kegs could do more but my head was spinning from the heat. Since I know I can do 2.75 miles (did it last time) I decided to stop and I don’t feel bad about myself: I got up and ran, after all.
