Lazy Lizard Workout

Silicon Valley Turkey Trot 2012

I did it, I did it! I ran my first Silicon Valley Turkey Trot, and it was awesome!

More that 14K people showed up on Thanksgiving morning to run 5K or 10K and have fun. Many runners were dressed up.

It seemed the whole city was running, and it was a very special feeling to be a part of it.

I did 5K, and finished at 35:31. Still didn’t beat my PR of 35:17 but I had such a great time.

The last one before the race

Tuesday, my last training day before the Turkey Trot. I was busy all day and finally hit the treadmill after 6 pm. I did 3.1 miles, had no pain and felt I could do even more. Awesome! The workout was a bit extreme though: after 2 miles the light went off, and to have it back I had to get of the treadmill – and I didn’t want to stop. So I ran the last mile in the dark. It was tough at first, but then I adjusted and even enjoyed it. I just imagined I was running in the forest. Feeling very confident about the race. Can’t wait!

Fighting the pain

I went to the track to run, and I was dreading it because of the pain. But guess what – it wasn’t there! I did 3 miles, I got tired, I was sweaty but I had no pain! Very very happy about it. Race is coming!

OMG it is Sunday again!

I can’t believe it is Sunday again. As we get more into holiday season, time just speends up.  I am not happy about it. I was supposed to write a post per each day when I did something but God, I don’t remember what I did and when, and it has been just a week!

I know for a fact that Tuesday I ran on the track, and Thursday I did treadmill. What did I do Monday? I don’t remember:((( Looks like I need to start using my old school (paper) training log.

I am sure abour my weekend activities though. Saturday I ran 3 miles on the track but between mile 1 and 2 I had to make a potty stop. Then I made a quick stop at the end of mile 2 because of that stupid foot pain. I walked a little, then got back to running – and the pain was gone! I wonder what causes it.

Today I decided to run on the track again – and after 1.5 miles the pain almost made me cry. It is devastating. I don’t run out of breath, my legs are not tired but that pain… I worry since it is just 5 days till the Turkey Trot. I would hate to walk not run the whole thing. I think I need to google my pain symptoms and get some rest today. Let’s see how I feel running tomorrow.

Where did the week go?

It is Sunday again, and I don’t know where the week went to. Over the last week I did something but not too much. I did 2 miles on the treadmill, and ended up having pain but this time in the right foot. Not good:((( I did Jillian Michaels workout – once or twice, not sure. Interestingly enough, it still makes me feel very very good. 20 min only – and I am brand new person. Love it!

Today I hit the gym and did 5 min of elliptical and ran 3.1 miles on the treadmill. Nice feeling in the muscles and no pain!

And yes, yesterday I picked up my bib and race shirt for the Turkey Trot. So excited!
